GOT HER RUNNING, DRIVING AND NOW THE TARE DOWN

The old radiator didn’t leak so I’ll be able to use it for a while so’s we can drive the coupe in and out . Since the radiator isn’t a "pressure system"type we will make up an adapter out of some brass stock to fit the filler neck with a journal for an O ring and I’ll modify a 16lb cap to fit it. Later down the road we will get a custom radiator but right now that’s the least of my worries. I had it flushed and tested  and it should do just fine.

IT’S ALIVE ! FIRE IN THE HOLE !

We made the dead line bet and will enjoy sucking down some of the Bass Ales, after all that work they are going to taste like a New York Steak ! Then after my head clears, it’s time to pull it apart and then I’ll take the body off the frame and have Becky Prep it since we have some real nice December spring like weather I’ll squirt on the paint on outside . We have the shop free for 8 days in order to get the underside sealed and painted, the gas, brake lines  and rear light wires on the frame and make new rubber body mounts and get a bunch of other things done.

I sort of woke a bunch of neighbors on this night but they may get over it. I had tried to get the brake lines and power steering lines done as soon as I could but I had to run and get some hose and AN- fittings that no body has just down the road. So when I got back I did what I had to do to get it done to win the bet.

OOPS UPDATE:

One other problem I ran into was the length of the steering arms were too long and greatly diminished the turning radius and this had to be corrected. "Since this steering set-up in a first time deal, I would have expected more problems then I really ran into." I figured out the steering arms had to be shorten or some way or moved forward about 2 ½" or so, well I didn’t want to cut and weld so I figured out that the distance need was the same as the centers of the bolt holes that attached the steering arms to the spindle. Therefore, I decided to make up some steel plates and drill 4 holes in each one, two of the holes in the ½" plate would mount to the spindle and the other two would be used to bolt the steering rod in place . Since the bottom of the spindle had a space to accommodate an area for the steering arms inboard bolt and the other would clear when it was bolted in with grade8's. After a trial fit everything looked to be correct now, so I remounted the wheels and gave it a go in the driveway. Now we have it right, it steers and turns like a dream now is stead the turning radius of a school bus ;o) .
